Michigan Tech-Welcome Week 2011!

Michigan Tech's first-year class photo, taken during Orientation after the University Welcome

The time has come again for Michigan Tech to welcome students back to campus! Although all the fun activities of Orientation are over, this week students can begin to celebrate their new academic year with Welcome Week! Welcome Week is one of Michigan Techs many traditions, lasting for seven full days welcoming all students back to campus. This really is a great time of the year for students to connect with all the services Michigan Tech has to offer along with local community providers. Welcome week always has a lot of great activities including: social activities, free food, entertainment for Tech students, and much more. I really do enjoy this time of year, not only because all of the students are back to campus and beginning a new semester, but it is really awesome to be able to see so many different groups and local community businesses together in one location. This week really is about getting into the Husky Spirit!

Labor Day

With Labor Day coming up this weekend and having Monday off, I would encourage your students to relax, get out, and explore some of the local area! Students do not have class on Monday, September 5th. However, there are many fun local locations for them to visit. I would suggest checking out the Outdoor Adventure Program, which was what last weeks article was on, and getting some information from them. Otherwise, explore Houghton and encourage your students to get to know their new home well! Hope you all have a very fun, and relaxing holiday weekend! Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.
